The term psychedelicore is used to describe progressive-style bands with roots in alternative rock and/or post-hardcore that produce a sound reminiscent of psychedelic rock. The instruments correspond to rock/hardcore bands in that psychedelicore bands usually consist of a singer, one or two guitarists, a bass player, and a drummer. The psychedic sound is usually primarily achieved through the "progressive" guitarwork of the guitarist/s. Psychedelicore usually differs from regular psychedelic rock and post-psychedelic in that it is less up-beat due to its roots in alternative rock and post-hardcore.
