No-Core describes music which exists at the intersection of experimental, punk, no wave, and noise. The term first appeared in the Boredoms song "No Core Punk" and was appropriated by a group of bands in Syracuse, NY in the late 1990's to describe their combination of influences: noise, no wave, and the local hardcore punk scene of the time. It is closely associated with the blog and podcast created by mplockwood and found at http://www.no-core.net
