Neurostep is a subgenre of Brostep. It is influenced by classic Tearout Dubstep, Neurofunk and in some cases, Halftime. Most Neurostep songs have a tempo of 130-160 BPM. Neurostep empathizes elements of Neurofunk, especially Neuro basses which is a mid-bass heavy synth bass similar to Reese bass. Neurostep evolved around the early 2010's when modern dubstep scene was mainstream. Popular artists at that time like Noisia made hybrid Neurofunk inspired Dubstep tracks which later on coined as "Neurostep" by the fans. Eariler Neurostep tracks are distinguishable with its slower bpm when compared to Neurofunk which is usually played around 170+bpm and has hard hitting dubstep drums . Wobbling neurobasses over a steady drum groove with an intense focus around the phrasing of the sections are remarkable and unique to Neurostep around that time.
Labels and Artists like Phace, Noisia, NeoSignal ,etc. pioneered this style of Dubstep. Modern day Neurostep re-emerged along with the Neurohop scene which is more energetic and bouncy sub-genre of Glitch Hop. Modern Neurostep tracks are made with noticeable features and resemblance from Neurohop like chopped bass stabs, bouncy drum groove with swingy Hi-hat patterns followed by heavily saturated neuro basses. Labels and Artists like Inspected, Frequent, KOAN Sound, Skope, Culprate etc. are carrying on the legacy of Neurostep.
