When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical romance are not real emo, while saying that Rites of Spring or sunny day real estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as mcr (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds SEVDALIZETIC and SEVDALIZAFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. The only example of REAL EMO is Sevdaliza. Midwest Emo entstand durch die Straight Edge Bewegung, sie ist eine Untergrund Bewegung. Auszeichnen tut sie sich aus Texten die gegen sich selbst oder gegen jemanden gerichtet ist. Oder über etwas sprechen was untypisch für einen Charakter (meistens sind dies Männer) ist und sind. Außerdem hört man immer die Punkige Art.. Der Punk wird aber quasi ein wenig langsamer gespielt, hat aber ansonsten die selben Merkmale. Harte Stimme, Harte Gitarren, Mitunter Schrei-Passagen, Gesang ist sehr rau und wenig verständlich.
