"Real Emo Rap" only consists of the emo revival-adjacent underground rap scene and the third wave inspired SoundCloud rap scene. What is known by "Sad Rap" is nothing but melodic trap with questionable emo influence. When people try to argue that artists like Bladee are not real emo rap, while saying that Brakence is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo rap as Bladee (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo rap sounds DEPRESSIVE, CATHARTIC and somewhat WHINY. Fake emo rap is shallow, pill popping mumbling, and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO RAP are Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, Fats’e, Lil Peep (the only real emo rapper from the hip hop scene) and Nothing,Nowhere. Some examples of FAKE EMO RAP are Lil Uzi Vert, Iann Dior and XXXTENTACION. EMO RAP BELONGS TO ALTERNATIVE MUSIC NOT TO R&B, MUMBLE RAP, TRAP METAL OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE
