Onto TV, how was Game of Thrones tonight? I still have to catch up on the second episode. It's such a pretty show! I didn't think Desperate Housewives was terribly exciting tonight, but LOL @ Lynette. The Office once again led me to tears. I don't know how I'm going to get through Thursday night's episode. WHY IS MICHAEL LEAVING? ;_____; I thought it was really well done. I'm glad Will Ferrell wasn't in it that much; I don't particularly care for him. I forget, do you watch Parks and Rec? Now onto music, lol...thoughts on Judas? I love it. I think I'm up to 400 plays. It's actually becoming one of my favorite song of hers. I love her different accents and the breakdown. It has me completely pumped for the album. Can't wait for the video. Ok, enough about me...what's new with you? Movies watched? :D

The set-design, costume design, use of color, acting...just exquisite! I think it's my favorite Helen Mirren film and I can't get over that ending. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. And we watched Grizzly Man in my film analysis class and I have to say that is was the most unintentional hilarious film I've ever seen in my life. I was dying. My whole class was in stitches, including my professor, lol. Have you seen it? I'd love to know your opinion. The stagey-ness of the interviews killed me, the editing was atrocious (the worst of any film I've seen), and that guy Tim was an absolute lunatic. Oh gosh, it was too much. And ugh, I still haven't seen Jane Eyre or Hanna. Only two weeks left of school, so hopefully I'll be able to catch them then. What are your thoughts on the Melancholia trailer? I think this is going to make up for Antichrist. I think it looks incredible, plus it's released the same day as Tree of Life :D

Boo! How are you? :) I'm out of my lazy slump, so I apologize greatly for not getting back to you in a timely manner. suhfshfsifh where to begin...I've actually had a lot of time to watch movies (when I should've been working on a paper, lol), so here's what I've watched: Spirited Away, Cabaret, Belle De Jour, The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, Her Lover, The Machinist, Let the Right One In, Welcome to the Dollhouse, The Shining, My Neighbor Totoro, and Grizzly Man. I pretty much enjoyed all of them. I was blown away by Spirited Away. Simply flawless! I wish it could've gone on forever. The Shining was terrifying. I love all of Kubrick's set designs. They add so much to the film and of course, the music couldn't have worked more perfectly with the story. But my absolute favorite out of the bunch was The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, Her Love. I was not expecting that at all. So deliciously twisted and sick, but oh so scrumptious.

Also, what do you think of Brit's new album? :D The first couple of listens I only liked about half the song, but after listening to it about 20 times...I can now say that I love the entire thing. Blackout will always be my favorite album of hers, but FF is another great one. Criminal is my absolute favorite (I think I'm up to 200 plays) followed by I Wanna Go and How I Roll. :)

I've wanted to see Watchmen for a bit, but I have zero interest in Sucker Punch. Too many awful reviews for my liking and I always trust what you say...but I will check out the soundtrack :) I can't say I've heard of the other films you saw, but I agree with you on the fact that there are so few films exploring being black in America; it's a shame. And yes, The Dreamers was definitely a very hot film. It was also the first thing I've seen Eva Green in. I figured she was just another pretty face, but I was pleasantly surprised. She's quite a good actress. By the way, I was thinking about getting netflix for the summer. Which plan do you have? Or is there only one? I don't know too much about it. I hope you had a nice weekend :)

Hey! So this was my last weekend for movies because hell month has started :( So many papers and exams! But I managed to squeeze in a few: The Big Lebowski, Dead Ringers, and Psycho. The former was pretty hilarious and enjoyable. Bridges, Goodman, and Buscemi were equally great, but it's definitely not one of my favorite Coen brother films. I loved Dead Ringers. Jeremy Irons was outstanding. How was he not nominated for an Oscar? Totally crazy film, but I really loved the set-design and cinematography and the red scrubs during the operations was a creepy touch. And I cannot believe it's taken me so long to see Psycho. I'm ashamed, but of course it was brilliant. A complete masterpiece, although I'll admit I chuckled during the bits where he knifed the people just because it was so unrealistic. It's amazing how far movies have come. I'm sad to hear about Jane Eyre and the missing passion. I'm going home on Friday, so I'm hoping I'll have time to see it.

And I need to catch up on Hitchcock films. My mom bought me this DVD set of all of his films before 1940, so I'll be checking those out. I wasn't aware of Alfred Hitchcock: A Life in Darkness and Light, so thank you! This past week I also watched Videodrome. I thought it was kinda brilliant. I like Cronenberg. I'm not really familiar with his early works, but I find it interesting how he's kind of become a more mainstream director (AHOV, Eastern Promises), but I still want to check out the rest of his filmography. And what movies did you watch? :) AND OMG, THE OFFICE! What a beautiful episode! The proposal couldn't have been any more perfect and it has finally hit me that Michael/Steve is leaving. I was bawling my eyes out. Who do you think is going to take over? I don't have the faintest idea. I'd really love to see David Wallace return, which is highly improbable, but I think he'd be so perfect. Hope you're well!

I'm going to take you up on your book recommendations; I'll add them to my summer list. Anna Karenina is on my list too, so you'll have to tell me about it. And about Wuthering Heights...I actually really loathed that book; an enormous disappointment. I hated the characters and I was bored; I didn't find the plot engrossing at all, so I'll be curious to know your thoughts...of course, I believe I'm in the minority of disliking it. Maybe I need to give it another try? Yes, The White Ribbon was my first Haneke film, however, I decided to check out The Piano Teacher this past week. Interesting film and beautifully filmed/acted, but my big issue was with the long shots. I can usually appreciate slow moving films, but I thought the pacing of this film didn't quite work. I think editing out 15 or so minutes of it would've made a world of difference, but nonetheless I'm interested in checking out some others such as Cache and Funny Games as you mentioned.

My apologies for the terribly late reply; I've been trying to catch up on some movies. I hope you had a nice weekend :) Yes, I thought Magnolia was truly PHENOMENAL! PTA can do no wrong. Masterful filmmaking and the technical aspects of the film (direction, the editing, the cinematography, and the score/song choice) were flawless! The music especially greatly enhanced every scene and just further elevated the greatness of the film, imho. I'm so thrilled I finally saw it! :D I think my favorite story line was Stanley's; broke my heart! :'( And of course that ending...holy crap! I didn't see that coming at all. My mouth was literally open for the last 25 minutes of the film. I can't believe it was 3 hours either; it felt like an hour and half max. I guess I was really enjoying it. I'm glad you finished Jane Eyre :) I'm a sucker for those types of book too! The movie comes out April 1st in my area, so hopefully I'll be able to see it then.

Overall, great stuff. I highly recommend it if you haven't already seen it. I also re-watched The Virgin Suicides. I liked it the first time I saw it, but now I'm absolutely in love. So haunting and chilling, but so beautiful at the same time. Kirsten Dunst is exceptional. And what have you watched this week so far? Oh and I finished Dogville. I thought it was perfect! And you put me to shame. 33 Hitchcock films?! I've only seen about 10 or so. Kind of pathetic. Maybe you should write my paper for me? :P Did you see I started a Hitchcock tumblr? It's pretty crappy so far, lol. What are your favorites of his? Hope you're well!

This week I've been able to catch up on several films. I saw Gone Baby Gone. Pleasantly surprised. Affleck was terrific and the final 30 minutes made the film. Bright Star-beautiful cinematography, costumes, and gorgeous performance by Cornish. 500 Days of Summer-really lovely and quirky romantic comedy/drama. Some really neat sequences and Deschanel was adorable! My Winnipeg (we watched it in class)-really bizarre and fascinating, not sure if I quite grasped it all. Dogtooth- I should've read up on this. Disgusting, disturbing, and bizarre. Maybe I didn't understand it? I don't know, but on a positive note it was top-notch direction and acting and the dancing scene towards the end was brilliant (the ending too). The White Ribbon- I haven't been able to get this one out of my head. Brilliant and phenomenal stuff. Filming it in black and white was genius. The cinematography was luscious, the story was fascinating; I liked how it didn't answer any questions at the end.

IT'S FRIDAY! FUN FUN FUN! I cannot escape this song. It's EVERYWHERE! The sad thing is I can't pull myself away from it despite how horrific it is. LOL! Finish Jane Eyre? :) I'm so happy it's getting positive reviews. I was a little worried it wasn't going to be too well received. Hopefully it'll come to my area soon. I love reading, but unfortunately summer is the only time I truly have time. I have about 50 books lined up so far. :) Some favorites of mine include: LOTR (really anything by Tolkien), Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Road, The Hours, Ethan Frome, Inspector Lynley Mystery series, and various biographies and historical books. I read so much that I tend to forget what I've read :/ I'm only about 30 pages in, but I'm on The King's Speech. Very enlightening! And some of your favorites? :) I'm sorry you didn't particularly care for Enter the Void. It's certainly not everyone's cup and tea and it's definitely not a film you can re-watch over and over again.

Since break started on Friday, I haven't watched any movies :( I've been so busy, but tonight I'm definitely finishing Never Let Me Go (I'm at the beach scene) and most likely Dogville. I'm quite loving the former. Beautiful cinematography and score. Overall, just a heartbreaking film. I'm not particularly digging Keira's performance, but I'm in love with Carey Mulligan. She's just lovely! I can't wait for the return of Curb either. Larry David is a genius. I love the man so much...and of course, Seinfeld is a classic! I think I'm seeing The King's Speech again with my friend; I'm looking forward to seeing it again on the big screen. I'm curious to see how it sits on re-watch. Hope you're well :)

Hey! I'm so glad you enjoyed Easy A and Fish Tank :) Emma Stone is an absolute riot! I loved her so much in it; can't wait to see what she does in the future. I want to add Fish Tank to my collection. I think it's coming out in the Criterion collection this month. I really love Fassbender. He's got some interesting projects coming up. I'm especially eager for Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method. I'm so thrilled you're reading Jane Eyre. It's perhaps my favorite novel of all-time. I adore everything about it. It's long, but I love the detail. I honestly felt like I was a part of the story, lol. I'd like to reread it this summer. I'm glad you're enjoying it! Can't wait for the film. I own the 1944 version with Orson Wells. It's great, but too short! It's only 96 minutes, so I'm hoping this version will be much longer. I can't believe you've seen 11 of Almodóvar's film O_o I'm tempted to just go through the filmography of my favorite directors; I'm starting to get overwhelmed, lol.

Uh yes, I approve 100% :D Can't wait to hear your thoughts, especially on Enter the Void. I swear it took me a week to figure out if I liked it or not. It's unbelievable. I treated myself to a few dvd's on Amazon: Easter Promises, Greenberg :D, and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Have you seen the latter by Almodóvar? We watched it this past week in my film class and I nearly died laughing. The funniest film I've seen in quite sometime. I highly recommend it :) Now that I'm on spring break, I plan on catching up on a lot. I still need to finish Dogville (it's so long, lol) and I'll probably watch The White Ribbon and I desperately want to re-watch Atonement. Did you hear the preview for Gaga's Government Hooker? It's a remix I believe, but it's quite promising.

And I absolutely adore Miyazaki, but I haven't seen My Neighbor Totoro. I must ASAP!

downright tacky. She acted so fake the entire time. Drove me nuts! Despite not loving Inception, it did deserve technical awards it got and I'm a little stunned that TSN got best editing; I wasn't really expecting that. On to fashion :D I honestly haven't been this impressed in years and years. I thought everyone looked divine! There really wasn't a gown that I hated, but my absolutely favorites were Cate Blanchett (so flawless), Natalie (the color was perfect), Mila, Halle Berry, Gwyneth Paltrow (I liked the structure), Hailee (so cute), and Scarlett. I loved the colors and textures. Really superb! Enough of my rambling...what'd you think? :)

Well...the Oscars was certainly interesting. I thought Franco and Hathaway were pretty horrendous (more him). I just can't get over James. He put absolutely no effort into hosting whatsoever. He basically didn't give a fuck about anything. And I'm pretty sure he was as high as a kite, lol. So disappointing! Anne is lovely, but she was too overenthusiastic, trying to make up for her lousy partner. I felt bad :( The jokes were terrible too. They need to bring back Billy Crystal; by far my favorite host ever! And I imagine you're annoyed with Director (as is the whole world, lol). I don't blame you. I don't think Hooper deserved it TBH (I wanted Aronofsky) . I practically fell out of my seat when they announced his name. I was floored! And you could tell the audience was not thrilled. Hey there :) OSCARS IN TWO DAYS! I cannot wait! I need to make my prediction list, but I'm definitely saying that Fincher is taking Best Director. I can't fathom them giving it to Hooper. But I'll be equally happy on whoever gets it :) I think everything else is pretty much set in stone, although there have been talks about about Leo not winning anymore. I guess we shall see :D I started The Fighter. I'm only about an hour in. I can't say I like it too much. I really loathe Bale's character; very irritating and the direction is a bit heavy-handed at times, but maybe I'll like it better by the end. And yes, the new Radiohead album is terrific. I'm not as into it as their other's, but still wonderful. And I now have to write a scene analysis on Amores Perros. I really liked the last third of the film with the older guy. I might analyze one of his scenes. Oh I must see The Illusionist! The animation looks glorious! I haven't seen anything else new recently :/ How are you? :)

I swear I had Need You Now and Where I'm Going on repeat for an entire week. My two favorites, but the whole album is solid. I can't believe people on itunes were giving Need You Now one star (as it was the free single); people are crazy, haha! After years of dying to see it, my film class we started watching Amores Perros. We got about half way through, but I can probably say it's my favorite Iñárritu film after 21 Grams. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Totally brutal (I had know idea it involved dog fighting), but incredibly amazing at the same time. So any movies watched this week? :)

I'm beyond thrilled that Arcade Fire won. Totally deserved it and it's nice to see they are finally getting recognized. Three solid albums in a row. I was disappointed "Need You Now" won so much :/ Not a big fan at all. I thought Gaga, Mumford and Sons, and Rihanna/Eminem were the best performances. Gaga and Rihanna both sounded terrific! And I'm adoring your tumblr! <3 I thoroughly enjoy your Rihanna pics! She's gorg! Believe or not, I watched Happiness last year. I forget how I stumbled upon it, I think on imdb. I was curious so I gave it go. Can't say I remember too much, but I agree with your sentiments. And Naked too...I started that a few months ago and got sidetracked, so I never finished, lol. Terribly unlikeable characters, but David Thewlis is quite terrific. And omg, yes! You must download the entire Cut Copy album.

I LOVED Another Year! Lesley Manville is hand's down my Supporting Actress win. It's a crime she wasn't nominated. A truly crushing and heartbreaking performance. I was in tears near the end. Definitely my favorite Mike Leigh fan and like you said the pacing was terrific. I'm so glad I saw it. My mom didn't like it though, lol. I'm sorry to hear that Biutiful wasn't that great. I guess I'll just wait until DVD. I hope you find someone to go to the Rihanna concert with you. I'd go if I could :) For me it's always hard finding people to go. I have to beg and plead with my friends, lol. I'm seeing Ellie Goulding in March. Tickets were so cheap, I couldn't give it up. And yes, The Office and Modern Family were hilarious this past week. Holly isn't my favorite, but she and Michael are adorable...and Erin and Andy better happen. And MF was a bowl of laughs. :D And now for BTW...what are your thoughts? I feel like I'm the only one enjoying it. I can't get over the backlash.

I'm personally floored that TKS won last night. I seriously thought it was going to be TSN or The Fighter. And I can't get over the fact that the TKS is now the frontrunner. I feel it came out of nowhere. You must be pretty disappointed. I still think Fincher is guaranteed Best Director despite Hooper winning DGA, but I think TKS is going to nab Best Picture, but don't give up hope...I still think there is a slight chance TSN will take it. I've never been a huge fan, but he pulled off the role beautifully. I'd like to see more semi-serious roles from him cause he can act. Yay! I'm glad you saw Rabbit Hole and enjoyed it :) The performances were outstanding, though it's a shame that Eckhart didn't get much notice. I think he's a pretty consistent actor. I've never seen a film he was bad in...heck even in Towelhead, such a disgusting character, but he played it spot-on. And gahhh, Dancer in the Dark killed me. That ending :'( Björk was sensational! I just wanted to hug her. Animal Kingdom is on my list for the week along with The Fighter, then I will have officially seen all the best pic nominees :D And I actually hated The Departed, though I can't say I remember it too clearly, but it just did nothing for me, lol. I don't care for Mark Walhberg. I think it's his cockiness I don't like, I dunno really, haha! Leo's in my top actors too. I'm surprised he doesn't have an Oscar by now. Hey :) I just finished Antichrist. A draining experience, but it was worth seeing for the solid acting by Dafoe and Gainsbourg and the flawless cinematography, some of the best I've seen. Are you a Lars Von Trier fan? He's an interesting director...probably among my favorites. Oh and you've reminded me that I need to revisit There Will Be Blood. I haven't seen it in a few years. That movie contains some of the most gorgeous shots ever! I hope you get to see Rabbit Hole this weekend and I can't wait to hear your review on Animal Kingdom :) I'm not sure what I'm going to watch tonight. I decided to make a list, so I guess I'll pick from there, lol. Also, I think I mentioned Enter the Void before, but I'd love to hear your opinion on it.
