i know about the j-heevzzz article on holter b'cause you told me about it; y're my go-to source for all pseudo-academic indie-rock articles published in norwegian. just listening to her lp now, finally; it's pretty amazing. can't wait to spend some sweet, sweet time with it. mostly just been listening to the next austra lp in the unscrobbled wilderness of nerdy-advance-copy streaming; i'm rather in love with it, just keep playing it over and over.

the blackshaw/melnyk thing sounds way too serious for me; i'm only into pop songs, sung by girls. on that note: i'm super-excited to hear the new jenny hval jamzzz..

did you hear the new mozart's sis jam on the sean nicholas savage tribute? it sounds, strangely, so, so much like grimes... http://arbutusrecords.com/?p=2281

I saw your post on the 4hero wall, do you know any other songs by their "Tom and Jerry" side project that is in the style of Maximum Style?

the presence of a new jam got me momentarily freak-the-fuck-out excited, but it's only coming with a re-release of the songs-we've-owned-for-years. oh, elusive, mo-sis lp, when will you be mine...

That Group Rhoda song is cool - sounds like Suicide. That Glasgow venue Mono where she's playing is amazing - there's a performance space, record shop, and vegan cafe in there. One of the best venues in the UK! I'll check out the other link you sent me at some point...

I'm afraid I've not heard of Group Rhoda. I'll look 'em up, though! Just seen The Ex live in London this weekend, wow is all I can say!

but wasn't billy always making mor folk-rock, with the amazing part being that it was mor folk-rock from the edges of sanity? like, he wasn't exactly skip spence back in the day, compositionally. maybe the mor-ness is in the sentiments? or the polish? or the lack of fire and ire? i haven't listened to it again since the first time/s. this is the time of year when new albums pile up unlistened to. plus i just got a working cd player for the first time in a long time, and am digging out old records that i've yearned to listen to over the years of not having a working cd player; and the past, as always, plays better than the present...

of course, of course. what kind of nika nerd d'you take me for? oh, and, given i'm typing: what d'you think of ol' bill's comeback-from-the-apocalyptic-wilderness? when i first put on the first song i found it overwhelming --like just the unexpected flood of emotions-- but then jeff frickin' tweedy bumbled into frame, and ever since then i've been unable to recpature that first feeling. so i'm just going to listen to newsom now and forever.

I've been making a fatal mistake with Zelienople, listening at a moderate volume on speakers in a room where outside noise is plenty. It's certainly headphones and nothing else music!

Does that make us two bipolar peas in a pod? Pleased to make your acquaintance mister. It's already paying dividends. I'm listening to the Anna von Hausswolff I see here and find it stunningly good. Cheers!

Oh wow just listened to that My Baby track, I definitely see where you're coming from. I really love the weirdo country-esque sound, and the lap steels of course. Keep any other suggestions coming, I enjoy listening to your recommendations!

Yeah I like Grimes but I'll admit (shamefully) I've only really invested in the 'singles', I've always been meaning to give her older stuff a proper listen. As for Mozart's Sister, super catchy stuff, powerful vocals... nice find! I take it she hasn't released much aside from the tracks on her bandcamp? It's a struggle to look her up on google haha. If I could suggest something it would be Daughn Gibson's debut 'All Hell'. Really exciting sound he has going, i'm hooked. I wont try to explain and subsequently pigeonhole that sound, that would be pretty unfair in this circumstance as it's so unique.

one of the first things i ever did when the music-stealing era dawned on me was to slsk all the wendy rene i could find; she's one of my favourite singers ever, such an amazing voice. i should maybe try and upload; her jams are hard to find but 'crying all by myself' is every bit as amazing as 'after laughter (comes tears)'.

woah, what are the chances of you reading the message then the article! I completely agree, the video is great to see but no video recording could do it justice. You have great taste, many artists I need to check out!

i haven't actually seen 'united red army', though i'm plenty familiar with wakamatsu. the way you describe the catharsis/gestation sounds almost exactly like the use of "eureka" during shinji aoyama's 'eureka', which is amazing. also: have you heard the 'dreams' lp by otomo yoshihide's new jazz ensemble? there's a 16-minute version of "eureka" that'll flip yr wig clean off.

so, ekstasis is pretty magical. getting deeper into it, much moreso than tragedy, which felt a little too formal for me. i was hugely into eating the stars in 2008, feels like the love has returned and doubled. oh, you should try and find the files for the remarkable thing about swans, this duo she was in years ago. i was obsessed with them, like, four or five years ago or whenever it was they existed (it was the myspace era!). four songs only; almost more a myth than a real band who ever was.

apologies for taking so long to respond. wow, your video is great (possibly my favorite song of hers as well). yeah, i guess grimes is pretty popular right now... i don't pay too much attention to all that, though.

i first play'd grimes on the radio in october '10, so i'm of the same vintage (and they're totally ye olden days; veritable generations ago). for me the weird feeling is: i suppose i've been endlessly, breathlessly hyping her in word and on airwave ever since, but it's still strange when someone like that does suddenly seem on their way to fame.
