Well I do love corn on the cob. Working helped kill some time. I work in a mall now, and man was it busy all the time. People just came to hang out at the mall all fucking day. When I wasn't doing that...well we spent at least a couple nights driving around finding places that were actually open. Spent a lot of time listening to a transistor radio. Spent last Saturday night drinking by myself in the cold while listening to AFROPOP hahahahaha. Read through two entire issues of National Geographic. I mean it got boring, but the worst part was that it was a constant 8.3 Celcius in the house and we didn't have running water. Probably the closest our town will ever be to conditions in Africa or something. Anyway you're better up here with us in fancy olde New England than down in Arizona where you might get mistaken for a MEXICAN and driven out of town by the superstitious townsfolk.

It was a freak storm. It came pretty much out of nowhere. The problem was that it was way too early for a big snowstorm and all the leaves hadn't fallen off the trees, so a lot more snow collected on the trees than they are used to and a whole lot of them fell down. I had no power for a week! HOWEVER you should come here anyway because then we could actually hang out. We could not do that in Arizona because it is far away. But hey, if you do go to Arizona, my only advice is to try not to get arrested for being a foreigner.

Hahaha I believe you mean a 'bender'. Yeah a few weeks ago a radio station played 4 or 5 Pink Floyd songs in a row and when I got home I decided I just had to listen to more. It's too bad that the songs from Animals are too long to ever get played on the radio. It's a great album. You're gonna be here in just a couple weeks correct? OH BOY are we gonna have fun.

Oh totally. All their music has that "mopey" quality to it, and it's fine when you're in the mood for it, but it gets dull and starts to all sound the same if you're not in the mood. Then again, I've only heard one of their albums so I might not know enough to be making these bold statements.

DID YOU KNOW: Guitarist Neil Schon of Journey, as a 17 year old prodigy, was given offers to join both Santana and Eric Clapton's Derek and the Dominoes; he went with Santana, which is where he met keyboardist Greg Rolie, and two years later both left the band to change the world forever with the foundation of Journey. Had Schon went with Clapton, the world would've been deprived of so many inspirational moments via the soaring vocals of one Steve Perry. Thank you for your time.

Well obviously there are a lot of people in the US, so peoples' music backgrounds are ALL over the place. A lot of kids might respect their parents' music because of their parents but never listen to it themselves. We just happen to be a few of those who tend to prefer our parents' music to that of our generation. Then there are the people who don't want to here anything not made in the last year, who I really will never understand. In any case, I don't think my situation is all that different from yours. A lot of those people will never listen, so for the most part you have to take comfort from the knowledge that you understand that good music in the past forms the basis for ALL music in the future.

Darn, I'm sure I would've enjoyed being old Jim with his sexy tight leather pants. Well the way I look the 90s, the music seems like it only got worse as the decade progressed. The grunge bands aren't my favorites, but they look like the Beatles compared to a lot of the bands that came after. I've often felt I would've fit in better if I'd lived during the 60s. Better music, the 'scene' was actually real. Would've been cool.

Ahh of course I forgot about that side of the internet. You're absolutely right about that. The thing is I've got kind of a love/hate relationship with the internet. On the one hand it allows everyone around the world access to things they would've never been able to see only 20 years ago, and I include myself in that. On the other hand, there's an over-saturation of amateur bullshit, and creative diaspora or not, a lot of it sucks. But here I am, being a spoiled American. You're damn right about owing those guys. Anyone who has listened to pop music over the past several decades owes them for that. It's really sad that many young folks today fail to realize that. I'm glad YOU and I do. I'm glad that if there was a dream I was in it was about the Doors. Maybe it was about me getting sprayed with mace in the bathroom of an arena and then ranting about the fucking cops to several thousand people. I'd take that.

You are preaching to the choir, as we say here. I've had this discussion with various people many, many times now. I've made an effort over the past few years to 'get into' some modern music, and I definitely have to some degree, a few bands that are very good. But I really feel where you're coming from. The majority of modern music, I just can't get into. And with the internet allowing anyone to spread music anywhere, I'm really just more over-stimulated than ever. You're not alone lol.

Hahahaha I wonder if anyone else thinks I sound like Dylan. As for the singing, well I don't really tend to record myself or anything like that, but I sang in school choirs for 10 years, and really anytime I'm not doing something else I hum or sing to myself. When I'm in public I'm told this makes me look like a crazy person.
