I'll be 30 this year, frequently worry I spent the 'best years' of my life already, and I'm hearing this for the first time... mmm.

At some point during this song, the -already mentioned before- wave of emotions kicks in, and when it ends it kind of leaves me with the bittersweet sensation that I'm not trying hard enough to live my life by the minute... Adult life (I mean getting a full time job, taking grad studies seriously, all that stuff) took me by susprise, and this song makes me think so much about those transition moments when you realise your life has changed irrevocably, and the time that has already passed is not going to happen again. We have to make the most of every moment we're alive.

Today is my last day of college. I'm hardly old, but I'm already feeling what John is singing about in this song :/

"Don't know how else to say it: don't wanna see my parents go. One generation's length away from fighting life out on my own..." SO recognisable! Being an adult can be really terrifying at times, and already having to go without one parent (bless you dad!) I can relate to missing their guidance at times...

The first time I heard this song was right after I lost my dad, sister and fiancé. Lyrics could not have hit me any harder. Just shows how "in touch" with life John really is and how he can relate to reality with his songs. My favorite song by him by far...hits hard but helps me understand.
