dancing with the wind to me is his magnum opus it's such a shame nobody knows of it as much as the other songs, or even is the top track of the red album, the second runner up on that album is dirty road imo. The best melodies, lyrics, and songwriting craft of all time, hints why he's the maestro.

Maybe. I’m in England and I can only get the second album. No debut or third album. Shame because the debut is superb. Still have it on CD though.

yeah reading these comments from years back really made me upset, i mean we all have our struggles in life that goes for anyone not just drug addicts and alcoholics. And that doesn't mean the musician is bad either, they probably didn't give them enough of a chance. And honestly, travis's best work is when he's stripped down in my opinion

That's great! Red was the key stone to finding Travis's music for me, I can't even word it how much of an influence and beautiful his song writing is, I still can't believe I was only 1 when red released.. I wish I was born years prior, I feel like a 90s kid anyway, would've loved to see everything evolve over the years and to see days live especially during his prime in 2001/2002 when his vocals were insane.

looking back at the shout box over the years, i don't really see why they think this band was "bad" yeah they sound like alice in chains, but thats okay! because they add a way more experimental sound in the second two albums, i really wish the purple one happened, the demos are like really good, that i found on youtube. I mean the experimental sound can be weird at times for me, but i still enjoy this dudes music. I really wish travis would return to the music realm, talented guitar player & overall song writer.

You're obviously judging them off of the singles of the 1st record that Travis composed when he was about 16 or 17. That was just the beginning... Days of the New 2 (Green) he completely changed the lineup (implementing female vocals) & that album has a combination of celtic rock & world music influences... club beats mixed in on songs like "Enemy" & "The Real"... make sure you know what you're talking about because I'm 99% sure that you don't...

Listen to the arrangement of a song like "Now" & all the wicked acoustic shredding in the middle of it by Todd Whitener... songs like "Dirty Road", "Die Born" & "Dancing with the Wind" off Days of the New 3 (Red)... this band is amazing & I've met Travis he's a quirky dude but I'd say he's a GENIUS!

@CosmicPi I totally agree with you... I mean the Red (Days of the New III) record was the last release in 2001. So that was 15 years ago... without a label to really push Travis & force him to meet deadlines (and obviously loan him a large budget so he can fulfill his artistic & creative vision) I think he's just at a point where he's like a hamster running on a wheel but ultimately going nowhere.

Travis Meeks is very misunderstood but his talent is undeniable... I hate people who try to say their first record sounded like... "so and so" when the 2nd & 3rd records were exceptionally unique. The first album was rock solid... I hung out with Travis 2 years ago & people just don't know how to approach or connect with him. I'll always love and support his music!
