Granmasters of experimental hip hop with roots in both tradition of the genre and 1970s psychedelia. This American trio has, since their beginning in 1998, reached a leading position among the experimental hip hop community as well as respect of contemporary avantgarde musicians. They have collaborated with star turntablists (DJ Spooky), Krautrock legends of 1970s (Faust), phenomenal singer Mike Patton (ex Faith No More, Fantomas) or hard core legends Melvins. This trio creates hip hop for 21st century and finally comes with brand new, neverheard sound that destroys style canons; perhaps this is why their albums are released on Mike Patton’s label Ipecac. Hypnotic layers of sound, abstract electronica, hardcore and breakcore – these ingredients help Dälek stand aside the conservative hip hop mainstream!
Regenorchester XII – Christian Fennesz, Franz Hautzinger, Luc Ex, Tony Buck (AT/BE/AUS)
Regenorchester XII is a supergroup of leading improvisers worldwide. Half of them come from Austria – Christian Fennesz (guitar, electronics) and Franz hautzinger (trumpet) are accompanied by Dutch bass player Luc Ex (leader of improvising group The Ex, member of 4 Walls) and Australian drummer Tony Buck (The Necks, Peril, Kletka Red). The sound of this star collaboration includes four different methods. Quiet improvisation, sound walls of guitar and laptop and energic rhythm not far from punk idioms. Cranky improvisation that promises an extraordinary listening experience.
MoHa! (Norway)
Morten Olsen (drums) and Anders Hana (guitar, member of Jaga Jazzist) alias MoHa! Are on of the bands releasing their albums on multi-genre Norwegian label Rune Grammofon. Their improvisation with almost hardcore feeling are literally formed on the run full of interactivity of both individuals. Noise, jazz and electronic drones influences can also be found in their music when heard live. It is said that Supersilent are postjazz with apocalyptic noise shade; here the apocalypse is distilled and released separately. MoHa! are another hint for those who wonder if improvised music is the real seroius music of these days.
