Biography

-soulhaven-, is a project created by Chris Swain in December, 2000.Born in November 1982, Chris grew up during the British Invasion and listened to artists such as New Order, Depeche Mode and The Cure. However, -soulhaven- is influenced by many current artists including: Celldweller, VNV Nation, Icon of Coil and The Echoing Green to name a few.

Originally begun using the MTV music generator program on Playstation 2, while in technical training school in the US Air Force, Chris (going under the moniker "christos" at the time) created an entire album using the tracks and tools from the program. The single from that album and only surviving track after the old MP3.com website went down, was the title track "Inner Being". Only a handful of copies of the album were ever actually printed.

After graduating tech school and moving on to his first duty station, Chris purchased a PC and the music creation software "Acid", to begin making more technical music. Although nothing really came from his creation endeavor until early 2004, after relocating to the UK. There, Chris laid the groundwork for the next album "Dark Eternal". Although the album remained unreleased after it was completed, Chris continued to make songs including several unofficial remixes for the Kidneythieves, Combichrist, Celldweller and Harland.

Chris, in late 2005, broke new ground releasing his first track with vocals entitled "Psychopathic". This track featured a movement into dark electro-industrial territory (a la Suicide Commando, Psyclon Nine etc.). Then in late 2006, the song "Inner Being" was released on an a compilation in the UK for the July/August '06 indie goth magazine "Insominia Magazine" .

After Chris separated from the Air Force in late 2006, he created one more track ("Into the Void") before putting -soulhaven- on a hiatus while he attended school and got used to the transition from military life to being a civilian. In late 2012, Chris decided to finally put all of the tracks he created for "Dark Eternal" as well as the tracks for the untitled third release, up for consumption through Last.FM under the album title "Dark Eternal".

Although there aren't currently any plans for a new release, Chris promises that he is not done with the project indefinitely and that the future has much left in store for fans.
