Biography
nockFORCE is a two-man collaboration launched with four hilarious songs on a MySpace page in early 2007. Afterwards, the “Quickies” became a weekly project. Four more songs were released in fall 2007. effnocka and FUCKFORCE are the rap personae of animator Ian Jones-Quartey and audio specialist Jim Gisriel.
Jim Gisriel is nockFORCE’s musical mastermind and idea-man. He was born and raised in Baltimore and Towson, Maryland. He went to film school at the School of Visual Arts in 2002. In 2003, Jim created and launched the internet flash cartoon "Cletus the Fetus," a short cartoon about a talking fetus who escaped from an abortion clinic to hang out with his friend, Earl. The series ran until 2006 and had a total of 88 episodes. While working on the series, Jim met Ian Jones-Quartey, who did a voice on the show and was it's webmaster for a while. Years later they came up with the idea of nockFORCE.
Jim currently works as an audio-visual specialist and is also currently on Tumblr, managing his own personal blog as well as a comic-book centric blog known as "comicscans". He is also occasionally a guest on RebelTaxi's Pizza Party Podcast, a 1+ hour podcast about general cartoon and animation discussion.
Ian Jones-Quartey created every single piece of nockFORCE’s artwork and animation(He draws everything himself because he’s sort of insane). He grew up in Columbia, Maryland. While in Maryland he got his creative start in the world of comics with his webcomic RPG World. In 2002 Ian went to New York to attend the School of Visual Arts and major in animation. While there he made many films. His thesis film, “Unfair” received acclaim from student film festivals. In 2003 Ian became the voice of Melvin for the Flash series "Cletus the Fetus." This is where he met Jim Gisriel and then years later they made this awesome project called nockFORCE.
Ian has worked as an Animation Director for World Leaders Entertainment on Seasons 3 and 4 of "The Venture Bros." He is currently an Executive Producer on the Cartoon Network show, "Steven Universe", and worked on "Adventure Time", as well as creating his own Cartoon Network show, "OK KO: Let's Be Heroes", based on his "Lakewood Plaza Turbo" pilot
