Biography
j@zzer (Christopher Galka) was born on March 22nd, 1985, in Jastrzebie Zdroj, Poland.
He studied classical violin from the age of eight. He was also exposed to the music of rock bands such as Queen, Led Zeppelin, Europe, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple by his father.
j@zzer was originally interested in rock music, but that he later became interested in classical, trip hop, and drum'n'bass as well.
Beginnings as a composer
In Jastrzebie, j@zzer gained a firm grounding in classical music from his ear training teacher, Jacek Porszke, a teacher at the Music School, Jastrzebie.
He began writing his first songs around age 16, and wrote his first songs for string quartet when he was 19.
Style
j@zzer's compositions rely on a mixture of styles and techniques, often starting with drum'n'bass loops, violin or cello introducing a topic, special effects and other noises:) His songs show influences from OST, folk, Spanish, trip hop, jazz, and classical music.
j@zzer has said that he works very hard to ensure that each of his compositions has its own musical style.
Performances
While with SoundKnot on their March '07 concert, Chris performed first violin alongside the band.
