"Asthenia" was written by DeLonge about "the loss of hope" and This song was produced by Jerry Finn. DeLonge's idea for the song regarding his idea of a lonely astronaut in space, "contemplating if even coming back or not will make a difference on such a negative place."
Real NASA transmissions from the Apollo 11 space flight are used in the opening of this song.
