Biography

For six years (1979-1986), Houston, Texas musicians/songwriters Guy Schwartz & Randy Soffar with a fluid assortment of drummers named Mike (but always referred to as Bobby Bakbeat) played a power-pop version of the new wave which rang true in the hearts of rockers from Texas to Los Angeles and New York City.

Z-Rocks' radio play in Houston (Y-94, 98Rocks, KPFT), Dallas (KEGL) and Los Angeles (KROQ), constant touring (opening for the likes of U2, Duran Duran, Huey Lewis, Utopia, Sparks, David Lindley…), and popularity amongst dance-club DJs helped the band have a short regional run of luck in '84-'86.

Radio cuts included "The Teacher's A Punk', The Way She Looks At Me" and 'You Know My Name".
