Cool sassy vocals, psychedelic guitar + a Frankenstein’s monster of turntable & synth; electro-pop duo Yeah Wednesday carve a sound that’s a unique hybrid of nu-jazz to trip-hop, rock to blues.
Yeah Wednesday’s Gavin & Janette have had a surprising career; with live performances in over 30 countries, at venues as diverse as Falls Festival, Espy, Revolver, Yah Yah’s, Reading Festival (UK), Roskilde Festival (Dmk) & Royal Albert Hall (UK). (***FACT - Gavin actually SMASHED a guitar on the stage of that delightful dome!!)
After far too many TV appearances, inc. Top Of The Pops in the UK; and even more bizarrely, having both played Soccer at Wembley Stadium (what tha?)… it was obviously time to return to Australia, unpack their suitcases, and concentrate on writing/recording.
They have since secured publishing deals in Aust. & USA - and their most current project - Yeah Wednesday - sees them re-emerge from their studio – armed with a deck, synth, guitar, killer vocals & their debut album… “Gravity Is Our Friend…”
‘Gravity Is Our Friend…’ - a collection of 10 tracks ranging from Electro Dance Rock, to Blues, to Nu-Jazz, to Trip-Hop…
*****Available NOW to download, and as a CD, on iTunes & Amazon*****
“A 100 Million Dollar Bills” - a tongue’n’cheek reflection on excess… the faceless minority… and the dangers of misusing a rubber plunger!
“Is That All There Is?” - Nu-jazz with electro-pop elementals (“Black-Eyed Peas meets Moloko”)
“Deserter” - dark, brooding, blues-infused electro rock…
"By A Thread" - pop-encrusted electro-dance…
"One More Thing" - a trip-hop, nu-jazz ballad…

Things that have been said about Yeah Wednesday…
"Overflowed"… Hauntingly beautiful vocals. Reminds me of Sarah Brightman

“…i absolutely LOVE the cd! the vocals on “is that all there is” send shivers down my spine!”

“A tasty smorgasbord: This enigmatic act are very versatile - one minute they sound rocky and laid back (laid Beck??) with “A 100 Million Dollar Bills” and then the album goes into pure pleasure electronica like the lush “By A Thread”. This is a quality production with real instruments coupled with rich electronic arrangements. Listen to it in an intimate setting with someone you want to get closer to. Very sexy!!!”
