“C Moon” is a reggae inspired track that was released on the opposite side of Wings single “Hi Hi Hi”, it ended up getting a lot more airplay than “Hi Hi Hi” in the UK because “Hi Hi Hi” was banned from airplay.
“C Moon” is a very clever song. On first listen, one may not know what meaning Paul had behind the term “C Moon”, and just take “C Moon” as a fun, lively song, but according to Paul,
There’s a line in that says, ‘Let’s not be L7.’ Well, L7, it was explained at the time, means a square—put L and 7 together and you get a square… So I thought of the idea of putting a C and a moon together (a half-moon) to get the opposite of a square. So ‘C Moon’ means cool, in other words.
