Biography
Whether he’s sculpting kick drums from recordings of balloons being popped, defying dance music’s loyalty to the 4x4 beat with unusual time signatures, or engaged in conversation with past versions of himself while he creates art for the future… Everything you need to know about the young Scottish electronic artist and multi-instrumentalist WhyTwo exists and thrives in the spaces in between. His intricate, detailed and highly musical sound explores the space between dancefloors and headphones. His constant use of Foley recordings and his passion for classic jungle breakbeats surveys the space between drum & bass and avant-garde electronic music. His artist name and one of the strongest musical inspirations in his life traverse the space between then and now: WhyTwo was one of his earliest words as a toddler (it’s what he called fire engines) while his jazz musician grandfather was a huge influence on him.
