“Bad Dream” is the third single and fourth track off of Wallows' third studio album, Model, and was released on April 26, 2024.
The lyrics follow a couple who are, as seen through the lyrical imagery, sleeping and the significant other is having a bad dream. The narrator wants to save the other but just can’t seem to do so as he is afraid of the outcomes and is scared of hurting the other, which could possibly tarnish the relationship. Overall, the song explores ideas of the uncertainty in a new relationship and how much communication matters as problems will start to work out later on.
On October 18, 2024, an alternate version of the song stylized as "BAD DREAM" was released to streaming platforms. This version was originally recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles during the album’s production and was the first cut of the song before it evolved into the one on the final album. “We love this version and wanted everyone to have it too,” said Wallows.
