Biography

Have fun! The motto of Brighton based band Venetia and the Voltage. www.thevoltage.co.uk

This is turning out to be a super busy year for Venetia, who has made the transition from resident DJ at Turnmills’ The Gallery to front woman of a band with more energy than a Hadron Collider. The ethos is simple; great songs combined with club beats and breaks recreated through the medium of a ridiculously talented live band. Club beats have the space to breathe and explode straight out of the amplifier, controlling your dancing limbs, guitar licks smack you round the chops while the melodies infect your brain completing a total system takeover.

LINE UP:
Venetia - vocals, un-electric guitar
Stuart Holt - black and whites and sound effects
Reuben Hurst - high guitar
Luke Seddon - low,low guitar
H McH - kit

Venetia has travelled all over the shop spinning her vinyl, from Fabric, to Eden in Ibiza; a very talented producer that ran Pear Music, a label that received huge praise from the likes of Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo and Danny Rampling amongst others. Now living back in little London (ie Brighton), she has been working like a dog to turn her latest album, ‘Keep Moving or Something Will Eat You’, into a live extravaganza.

Upon returning to Brighton, Venetia scoured for months in an attempt to find the right people to take on the job. Through working with highly successful photographer and previous member of Mr Who (dual amp/grinning records), Stuart Holt, she had a keyboard player. Now she had to audition for a rhythm section and lead guitarist. Through a ridiculous amount of x-factoring and sheer blind luck she found uber musicians Luke Seddon, Reuben Hurst and H-bomb factor 15 and rehearsals started.

The Voltage promote and run a highly successful night of drink and dance called ‘Have Fun!’ in Brighton once a month. The night is always heaving and puts on goodtime bands, guest VJs and DJs that just don’t know when to stop. It’s a night of bimbletronic guitar nonsense that has people spreading the word all over the city.

In 2008 and the Venetia and the Voltage releaced their first two single 'You Give Me Something' and 'Warning Song' and are set to release their third spring 2009.
