Variant Field is a collaboration between Amani Friend of Desert Dwellers & Alex DeYoung; both proficient electronic music producers with over 40 years of combined music production experience. Their music is heavily influenced by bass music, hip hop, IDM, dub, downtempo, chill-out, ambient, and classical traditions; blending many sources of inspiration into abstract and cerebral soundscapes that are equally suitable for both the feet and the mind. The intelligent and textured productions of Variant Field pulse with hypnotic-punchy beats, earth shaking bass, and blissful cinematic expansions and melodies …. occupying the spaces between sonic worlds.
