Biography

Unsafe Space Garden are a curious case of band/project/collective. Firstly, it comes from Guimarães – that, in itself, is already interesting. Second, how the band has developed. It seems that every year, and even every concert, more ears and eyes focus on the music that USG is creating. There are (good) reasons for this.

USG was born from the indices of Nuno Duarte's mind with Alexandra Saldanha between 2017 and 2018. An idea from a notepad resulted in compositions sprouting; The first EP, Bubble Burst, released in 2019, revealed the organic foundations that USG has with each new full-length. Prolific and maximalist pop, extremely psychedelic, tinged with surrealisms that make her navigate a universe that is so rich in discovery.

Currently, the following are part of Unsafe Space Garden: Nuno Duarte (guitar and vocals), Alexandra Saldanha (vocals and keyboards), Filipe Louro (bass), Diogo Costa (electronics), José Vale (guitar) and Pedro Vasconcelos/João Cardita (drums ) – Pedro recorded in the studio on the last album, but it is João who has been playing live. Just over a month ago, on the Primavera Sound Porto stage, Pedro Melo Alves on drums and João Grilo on keyboards also joined.
