Biography
Improv experimental/ambient band Underground Traffic formed in 2005 an a College Station, Texas lake house. While consisting of an orthodox guitar/bass/keyboard/drums combination, they utilize everyday objects for percussion as well as effects and electronics to create an ambient, eclectic, and at times manic sound. After creating 2 self-produced albums, Underground Traffic disbanded in 2006 due to artistic differences.
Their first album, "One Car Pileup", consists of a single 42-minute improvised track. Whammy bass and keyboard effects are used heavily, producing a very alien sound.
Their second album, titled "Underwater Kitchen" is based off a loose conceptual structure of a castaway landing on an unknown land, while still being entirely improvised. It's slow intro and ambient sound effects lend a progressive quality, and most fans consider this to be their best album. It consists of one 80-minute track.
