Biography
A beat, some bass, a guitar and a pretty face.
A fresh and original bouillabaisse of hip hop, reggae, rock and ska pop with a punk attitude.
Troubled Soulz were born in 2003 in 72 Soul's kitchen. Starting from a classic 4-guy-rock set-up, they organically grew into a band playing a blend of hip hop, reggae, soul, jazz, blues, rocksteady, ska… without falling into the usual cliches. Influences range from Lou Reed, Marvin Gaye, Lee Scratch Perry and The Clash and result in a highly original sound.
Their very first live gig got them into the final of Het Kampioenschap van Brussel 2003 (100% PUUR - Poppunt). The band has been playing on and off ever since : Hove Live 2004, Charlatan Gent, N9 Eeklo, Café Video (Boomtown 2005 Gent), Havana Club Brussels… and many many cafe's..
From the very beginning, they've been looking for a management agency, a booker, a record deal, underaged groupies and a bottle of coughing sirop. Nobody is crazy enough to give it to them, so they just keep on playing music, drinking beer, smoking pootang and making babies.
