Biography
After emerging in the music scene in 2002 as an acoustic duo, Pats and Bliss formed TriggerBliss, a band whose passion and intensity for making engaging and expressive music kept them to gig-hop and continue to perform live in the name of FUN!
With their incessantly catchy, funky ethno-rock melodies, or at times the swooning corduroy-timbered vocals deliver you to a feeling of meditation all the way up to a manic state. The music is not as hard-hitting as one would call, but their kind of sound, fusion of pop, punk, funk and ethnic as claimed by the band, is so narcotizing.
Band leader and composer Pats Co aka teddypork is a virtuoso on his instrument. Not as wisecracking and prolific as Bob Dylan on his lyrics, but hey, the message remains mature and sincere. Merging it with the very vibrant vocals of Bliss Mabini aka steadybliss, the band is so adept of juggling genres. The band is completed by equally talented musicians Jonathan Co on drums and Tochi Azares on bass. This is TriggerBliss.
TriggerBliss is God’s way of telling you, “You’ve stayed in the kitchen long enough, here’s a relief PodSon!” After performing live for a couple of years, in 2005, they self-produced and launched a 7-track EP hotchpotch ridiculed by teddypork as “Greatest Hits”.
The album opens up with a sprightly tune “Jackie Beaulah Burkhart”, a very fun song like “I Wanna Go Surfing” which invites you to stomp-your-feet-nod-your-head kind of thing. As opposed to the third track, “Everybody Has A Story” is rather melancholic, propelled by a comforting vocal telling a story. A personal favorite is “Yaya”. It’s an ethnic-funk-rock tinged song flavored with the inimitable phrasing of Bliss. “Nasan”, on the other hand tackles on social issues unresolved. The album also includes “Everybody Has A Story (Radio Edit)” and ends up with an acoustic rendition of “Nasan”.
