Biography

From http://tinabelmont.com/bio.php:

Who is Tina Belmont?

Many, many years ago, when the world pretended to be more innocent and naive, a young boy had a dream about a magical girl, a fairy princess who rode a unicorn across a rainbow to a fantastic enchanted castle in the sky. That girl was named Fairy Princess Tina Belmont.

Years later, the whole Fairy Princess thing kinda fell out of vogue, and after watching way too much anime she decided that it was much better to be a pop idol, and thus became Idol Princess Tina Belmont. To a limited degree, that one actually stuck. It turns out that there are no end of guys who like to gawk at cute girls, and the singing just gives them an excuse. So long as they actually buy CDs (only $5!), she can live with that.

Isn't that a sweet story? How about another one?

Once upon a time there was a terribly lonely child who was teased and made fun of. That child withdrew into a world of computers and games to hide from ridicule that came from both within and without. The child hid for many years, afraid to open up to anyone for fear that their terrible secret might be revealed. Afraid even to grow up, the child eventually had a job making award-winning videogames for Playstation 2.

But the work was grueling and endless, and creatively unfulfilling. After many years, the long hours, high pressure, and loneliness began to take it's toll, and the former child lost the inspiration to continue. Deciding that the former child's output was no longer fun and that it was cheaper to hire some of the infinite supply of younger, less burnt-out children, the evil managers fired the former child.

Shocked and afraid, the former child felt betrayed by the career that once supported it. Suddenly, all the games and toys and trappings of childhood seemed distasteful, and the last shred of the former child's self-identity was shattered. The former child suddenly found themselves completely devoid of any sense of self, as if they had just woken up as a new person in a formerly occupied body and life.

The former child flailed around for a while, looking for someone to be. Somehow, they came across three magical items. One item was a blue dress. "Ah, I must be a girl!" the former child exclaimed! The next item was a guitar. "So then I am a musician!" the newly appointed girl exclaimed. The final item was a microphone. "Oh, so I am a singer too!" the freshly minted girl musician exclaimed. "I must be a pop idol! But who am I? what is my name?"

Perhaps influenced in some small part by memory of her previous life of games and cartoons, the name "Belmont" appeared suddenly in her head. "Hmm… Belmont seems like a last name… what is my first name?" she wondered. She sat down with her guitar and closed her eyes and tried to remember. "Something with a 'T'… a 'T' and an 'I'… oh, what girls name starts with… oh, it must be 'Tina'!"

"That's me!" she exclaimed, jumping up with joy! "Idol Princess Tina Belmont"!

How was that one? I think I'll stick with that one for now…
