Biography
Thomas was born and raised in Lüdenscheid/Germany and had his first guitar lessons at the age of 15.
Later on he switched to bass and began to study this instrument as an autodidact. At the same time he became interested in Jazz music and in 1988 he moved to Stuttgart/Germany to study electric bass at the High school for music with Prof. Bernd Konrad and Thomas Heidepriem. Since that time he began to work as a professional musician involved in different styles and projects, just to mention a few:
1992 Finalist of the „European Jazz Competition“ in Leverkusen with Rade Soric Trio
1992 shows at the olympic games in Barcelona with Südpool Quintett and Maria Joao
1993 Invitation to the „Europ´ Jazz Contest Belgium“ with Rade Soric Trio
1994 winner of the first international Folk-crossover competition in Plauen with Anne Wylie Band
2000 two compositions by Thomas Rotter among the " Top Ten Jazz" at sibeliusmusic
2000 Jazz Time Festival 2000 Rijeka, Croatia with Daniel Messina Band
2002 17. International Theaterhaus Jazzfestival in Stuttgart, Germany with Daniel Messina Band
