Biography

There is No Dana was a brief-lived side project of Elaine Bradley (Nymb), Ben Kane (Nymb), and Pete Wulff (Apple Smax). They self-recorded one 6 song EP in the band's practice space in the winter of 2002 and played a single show that summer at a now demolished bar.

RECORDING RECOLLECTIONS FROM DRUMMER BEN KANE:

"It's super lo-fi, but the songs are really good and fun. We recorded it to Elaine's digital 4-track in a sheet metal fabrication shop where one of my old bands used to practice. I'm pretty sure it was winter 2002, but that's all I recall. John Honkola was the main roadie for Nymb. John and Pete were not necessarily close, but they had met a few times, and John was a big There Is No Dana (TIND) fan. I would say that TIND is very similar to Nymb because it's Elaine and me. You can hear the similarities in the music. It's still her guitar playing and singing style and my drumming style. But there were some parts that Peter brought to it with his bass playing that made it uniquely TIND. Most of all we just had fun for the sake of playing music and making music together. We laughed a lot. I wish we were able to do more than we did. But I'm still very, very happy that we made that recording and played that one show."

This is a split album. Pete did not play on the two "Big Thick Skin" songs, which are entitled "The Hard Way" and "I'm Lost" (those are just Elaine and Ben).

Around the time of this recording, There Is No Dana only played one live show as a band, which was at the now closed Black Rock Bar (a.k.a. Black Rock Pub & Kitchen) in Chicago (the bar has been demolished but was located at: 3614 N Damen Ave Chicago, IL 60618).
