One of a small number of records I would consider to be essentially perfect in every respect-- songwriting, production/mix, performances-- with a compulsively listenable sound that suits a variety of moods. Very grateful that my brother used to listen to this group when I was younger, leading to my discovering them at a point when I was otherwise not much interested in Dream Pop/Jangle Pop type music. Just goes to show that great songwriting transcends genre. Still consider this a fundamental release in that style all these years later when I am quite fond of the genre(s), too. All The Sundays' records are great, but this one is the best, IMO. 10 fantastic tracks, with the best of them ("Here's Where the Story Ends," "Can't Be Sure," "Hideous Towns," "You're Not the Only One I Know," "Joy") being life-changingly gorgeous.

Yes! One that I never get tired of and can listen to in any mood. An all-time favorite

Am reliably informed by David Baddiel via Twitter (he went to school with Harriet and Dave) when I asked what happened to them, that they are still making music and contributed songs to the soundtrack of his new film. This makes me happy.

One of the best albums I ever bought, back in the days when vinyl ruled! I was a Harriett Wheeler groupie for a weekend back in the late 80's - I saw The Sundays at the Portsmouth Uni and the Bristol Bierkeller over a weekend on the South Coast. Also saw their second (I think) gig at the Boston Arms, Tufnell Park, supporting EAT. One of the loudest gigs I've ever been to. Couldn't hear properly for days. Went on the Tube back to Morden and coudln't hear a thing! Ouch! Great times.
