Biography
Childhood friends Conor Donohoe and Sean Hodson decided that they'd like to form a band, with their young innocent heads filled with dreams of rock and roll, the planned everything, except the forgot one thing, they didn't play and rock instruments!
One year on and Conor learnt how to play guitar and Sean kinda knew a few chords, they rehearsaed in The Artane School of Music, they continued to do so often, find Ger to join on keyboards somewhere along the way.
The band went on to particiate in the first year of The Artane School of Music's Rock Camp, where they recorded their first C.D. "The Custom Built E.P." this contained a cover version of both, U2's "City of Blinding Lights" and The Chalets' "Feel The Machine", it also contained "I Don't Wanna" a song written by Sean that would go on to be one of the Side Street Doormats' (also containing Sean) trademark songs.
A while after the "Custom Built E.P." Ger decided that his real calling in life was the Drums, so band friend Brian Hennessey was drafted in to play Piano. Rehearsals became less often and the band members' musical tastes differed even more, Conor and Ger both decided it was time to move on and left to form "Melvin and the ManGrapes" with Shane Folan.
After this low point in the bands story the cover version of "Feel The Machine" came to the attention of The Chalets when Sean gave them a copy of it at a tower records instore performance, they were later offered an opportunity to play support for the Chalets in Whelans in the Dublin city center. Sean and Brian asked Ger if he would help them out and make a guest appearance on Drums. They also added a bassist for the first time ever, in the form of Paul.
The band spent a period of two weeks perfecting their act and recorded a new C.D. to celebrate their live debut, the C.D. was entitled "Getting Lucky in Kentucky" it contained the sogs "Charlene" (a song Sean wrote about a fictional character a childhood friend of his created) and "You Don't Know" (a song Sean and Brian had written for a song contest the previous year).
After this the band decided that Paul should play Drums, as he was an extremely good drummer and Conor returned having realised that his musical tastes could not get int he way of having a good time and performing music with his friends. The band also drafted in Shane (from Melvin and the ManGrapes) to play bass.
For personal reasons Paul decided it would be best if he left the band, (Ger has once again helped the band out by returning on drums) the band subsequently went into hibernation for the duration of Brian's Leaving Cert exams. in late 2007 plans we're hatched to reform the band and stage a re-launch in the summer of 2008, if this will be a sucess or not, it is not known, only time will tell.
Never the less 2008 will prove to be an interesting year for The Resolutions.
