Take the force of garage rock icons the Sonics, add some 60s street racing and the sweet yet tough looks of the Shangri-Las and what do you get? The Neptunas - three chicks playing three chords who get the jukejointers a-jiggling.
The Neptunas, heroines of the L.A. underground, rip-off the savage best of 60s garage and 70s punk pop to create an auditory hallucination of Hot Rod Garage-ageddon. Their frenetic set includes covers by anti-stars the Mummies and Paul Revere and the Raiders, as well as original songs describing everything from tortured teen dragster worship to a sorority where the extracurricular activities are exceptionally "hands-on".
