What would it sound like if the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Buckley, Fall Out Boy and Michael Jackson joined musical forces and became a modern day pop/rock band?
Sydney quartet The Initiation is pretty close to perfecting exactly that sound. With a huge range of influences all conspiring to create a distinct sound that has become a favourite of the Sydney live music scene for the last few years, The Initiation are definitely a band to look out for.
Formerly known as My Name 4 Your Name, the band manages to combine intricate melodies and soaring vocals with aggressive interludes to create an infectious twist on pop rock music.
The band’s solid worth ethic and uncompromising live show have earned them support slots with the likes of Valencia (USA), Ben Jorgensen (USA), Ivoryline (USA), Noxshi (UK), Midnight Youth (NZ), Washington, Trial Kennedy and plenty more.
October 2010 saw the release of the “Tumbling In Turbulence” EP (Green Media/MGM) and the CD is available at JB Hi-Fi stores nationwide.
If you are yet to experience the solidity and frivolity of a live show by The Initiation, you need not worry, they are more than likely on their way, and they are not to be missed.
