To the person that messaged me and said I was not a real the academy is... fan; I accidentally deleted your message and I cannot remember your username so I'll post my reply here: how am I not a real fan? First off, I have bought a burial plot in Hoffman Estates, IL (a place which I travel to at least once a week from Pennsylvania just so I can walk the same streets as william did as a child). Secondly: I took a mortgage out on my house just to collect enough money to (hopefully one day) buy the master tapes of 'almost here'. And last but not least: I quit my job, broke up with my girlfriend and cut all ties with family and friends just so I could spend as much time as possible deciphering William's lyrics. I am a real fan. As real as it gets. Do not ever contact me again with such upsetting nonsense. I am actually crying as I type this. OK.

Tough to say with these kinds of bands nowadays. seems like a plethora of them *reunite* for a tour or two, playthrough their most popular albums on their anniversaries and headline a festival before disappearing once again. Unless they get back in the studio to write/record, I am treating this reunion as more of a victory lap than anything. I hope I am proven wrong, we need a Santi part 2

Not being a fan of the generic pop-punk of the 2000s, something about The Academy Is... always stuck out to me. Was it the fact that they were actually talented? Was it because they truly enjoyed playing together (to where there made a one-off band to make a silly song)? I'm honestly not sure, but when discovering their pre-Almost Here material, you'll figure out that they were more post-hardcore, taking A LOT of influence from Thursday. As someone who is obsessed with post-hardcore, I think knowing their origins helped me notice the influence in their later music and made me love them more. At the end of the day, this is a really fun band!
