Dark, rustic and angry, with subtle overtones of hope and irony; a refreshing palate of soft melodies that sound easier than they look: Witty, debonair and daring.

Intelligent and out of the ordinary- Sweet Sweet Lies combine urgent electrocoustic instrumental with witty, ironic and bittersweet vocals. They are a rock band at heart but they are strongly influenced by blackhearted Country and Brighton's retro rockabilly sensibility. They are not skifflecore.
The band are very down to earth and always make time to talk to the fans. They are graduates of the famous BIMM (Brighton Institute of Modern Music) and although they have now transcended those roots, they maintain links with the school and are a source of pride for current students.
Their lineup has had a few variations over recent years, but permenant members include two guitarist and vocalists: The acerbic, intense Dominic Von Trapp, who punctuates his spiky Cohen -esque lead vox with virtuoso Kazoo solos, and unflappable axeman Michael 'Blind Mick' Hayes alongside implausibly beautiful drummer Moez, who brings distinction to their percussive sound by alternating the traditional drum kit with the subtler choice- a cajon.
Hugely popular on Brighton's live alternative music scene for many years, 2008 saw Sweet Sweet Lies record an album and release iTunes singles, before parting ways with their label. Fans are optimistic of a release by the end of 2009 though.
