"The layer-upon-layer-upon-layer rock of Summerbirds in the Cellar's ethereal vocals, blasting guitar, marching drums, and serene synth lines is enough to make me scream, cry, and bellow into the night, thanking God, Jah, Allah, and Yahweh for the opportunity to bear witness." - Rolling Stone

"The patience precision of Druids further confirms Summerbirds in the Cellar as the region's most important and talented band. Brad Register’s lyrics continue to mine dark caves and offer bleak, apocalyptic perspectives about our existence. The words are true, expressing beliefs and fears that have deep, universal resonance." - Reax Magazine

Summerbirds in the Cellar was formed in 2004 in Central Florida by Brad Register, Curtis Brown, and Tyson Bodiford.

The trio's debut full-length, "With the Hands of the Hunter It All Becomes Dead," is a stunning collection of songs that's long on mystery and short on cliche'. Summerbirds' sound is rooted in rhythm and is layered with a dense wall of guitars that spills beautifully over the listener. Crooning vocals with richly layered harmonies are all punctuated by a throbbing synth line thick enough to carpet the floor with. Andy LeMaster's (Chris Martin, R.E.M., Bright Eyes) expert ears and attention to detail is vastly apparent in the graceful production of the record. Neely Jenkins (Tilly and the Wall) also appears on the record to add a lovely dose of female vocals to the equation.

Summerbirds spent much of 2006 on the road, headlining numerous tours and supporting Now It's Overhead (Saddle Creek Recs.) nationally. Register and Brown performed double duty on the tour, performing in both Summerbirds and as the current guitarist and bassist for Now It's Overhead.

In 2008 the band made waves at SXSW where they were handpicked by R.E.M. to open for them. Besides R.E.M., the band has also shared stages with Liars, Bloc Party, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Rilo Kiley, Man Man, Explosions In The Sky and many others among indie rock's celebrated pantheon.

Initial demos from "Druids," the forthcoming full-length release, showcase staggering growth and suggest a monumental follow-up record. Summerbirds' ambitious project features a 30-person children's choir on three of the songs, and massive, epic production. "Druids" is set to be released early in 2009.
