Static Engine is a EBM group fromed in Troy, New York in 1994 by Paul Furio while he was attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Influenced by Industrial bands Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Chemlab, and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Paul Furio with his digital media background and MIDI keyboard skills formed Static Engine. The group recorded some demo tapes, and performed its first live shows at a fraternity basement and a bar which kick started the band.
The original lineup consisted of Paul Furio (vocals), Sean Lensborn (drummer), Maeve Taylor, and Angela Graveline (vocals for songs Hope, Faith, Redemption). When Paul Furio moved to Boston, Massachusetts, Chris Rae (guitar) and Izzy Lee (vocals) joined Static Engine. Lastly when Paul Furio moved to Seattle, Washington Nicole Edmonds (keyboardist) and Darren Miller (drummer) joined Static Engine. When Darren Miller left due to health problems that prevented him from playing anymore, Jason Bazinet filled in on percussion.
Static Engine split up in 2004 due to financial reasons.
