Biography

Skylopez are an indie, post punk trio based on Buenos Aires, Argentina. The group are Pablo Gonzalez (bass/vocals), Juan Etchepare (guitars) and Rodrigo Cursach (drums).
Heavily influenced by indie rock and the post punk scene (The Strokes, Interpol, The Cure) their sound is mainly based around guitars, mixing the dark sounds of the 80's post punk, sharp edgy guitars and catchy vocal melodies.
The band was formed in the capital of Argentina, in late 2003 by Cursach, Gonzalez and Julian Cadelago(vocals/guitar) and began writting and playing their own songs from day one. In March 2004, a second guitarist, Juan Etchepare, joined the band. No more than one week later, Cadelago left the band, looking for other artistic projects, leaving Gonzalez with full vocal duties, as well as Etchepare in the guitar. Something that would become the essential sound of the group.
In April 2004 the band adopted the name Skylopez (until then, unnamed) after an American porn star and recorded their first songs. A 3 track demo, featuring songs Ya No Me Asustan Los Domingos, La Fiebre and Desperdicio.
Their first live performance, in August 2004, took place in a club called Especial, where they played a 9 song (all original) set in front of an audience of more than 150 people.
The year ended with a packed performance in December, 30th.
2005 saw the group changing to a rawer and wider sound. Always playing new and original material, Skylopez kept playing around Buenos Aires clubs, during the whole year. Often including a wide range of interesting guests in their sets.
And ended inside the studio, recording a 5 track EP in November 2005. Finally released in December 2006, the record features songs Seco, Freak, Dias Simples, Trans-Farmer and Honey, and an extra song, Septiembre, can be downloaded from the website.
On January 2007, only a month later after their first release was completed, the band broke up due to musical and personal differences.
