Biography

Silver Spring formed in summer 2008 when four friends began jamming together in a lockup in Battersea, South London.

The band played their first gig at a friend's birthday bash in November 08 under the alias 'Chord Fortina'. Early songs Occupational Hazards and OOMPAH!! were firm crowd favourites, and after this first success the band organised their pub debut, the charity 'Post-Christmas Blues Breaker' at the Oxford in Kentish Town – this time as 'Skylelon'. Once again OOMPAH!! raised the roof.

Throughout spring 09 the band embarked on a writing purple patch and, as summer 09 drew to a close, they secured a slot at Geoff-fest, an annual cider & ale swigging all-nighter in Somerset – encompassing all the best bits of Glastonbury Festival without the fence to scale. By now the band could draw on around 20 songs and put together an hour-long festival opening set as, for the first time, Silver Spring.

Since the fun and absurdity of playing at the geoffest festival of them all, and their successful debut on a promoted bill at Sound in Leicester Square, Silver Spring have got the lust for playing live, and the gig diary is filling up. Interest is growing as more and more people are coming to see a band addicted to the rush of playing live and intent on crafting its own sound.
