“Mercy” is the second single from Mendes' second studio album Illuminate, which will arrive in September 2016. The track was released on August 18, 2016, as an instant download for people who had pre-ordered the album.
During the week leading up to the release, Shawn released a snippet of the song every day, similar to the strategy he used for Illuminate’s lead single “Treat You Better”.
On Instagram, Shawn also published shots from the photoshoot for the album cover as a way to promote “Mercy.”
