Biography

shareholder tom is a new music project by Thomas Berghaus (Cologne/Germany). Thomas is the founder of the cologne-based Soul Band "Family Vision Care". About his new project he sais:

Not so long ago, I had a bit of a run in with a music manager. He insisted that there was no difference in selling music as opposed to selling a sack of potatoes. He was of the opinion that with music – like with everything else - all that matters at the end of the day is what your bank account balance looks like. Aside from the fact that his music really didn’t have much more soul than a sack of potatoes, I thought it was high time to prove him wrong. Soon after, I had an idea for a new music project, and before anyone could even think of what that music would sound like, company politics were clear as day: in this goddamned music business, success can’t be scheduled, and that is why first and foremost, you have to do something that moves your own soul – if this feeling will eventually be shared by ten or ten thousand others, is really irrelevant at that point. Welcome to Passion Incorporated. Welcome to shareholder tom!

The first project that came my way was a joint venture with the wonderful singer Fijori. Fijori was born in Eritrea, and grew up in the south of Germany. Fijori was one of those people, who enrich our country with their cultural background, and who remind us with their wonderful ways that borders (be it between nations, cultures, or music styles) only exist in our heads. When I heard “Single Warrior” for the first time, I heard all these melodies and voices, which – completely separate from the lyrics Fijori was singing – told me above all one thing: how wonderful, how multifaceted, and entertaining this world can be. Here my mix of the piece.
