This album is great, but I'm disappointed that it's considerably less aggressive than the band's other albums I've heard, especially the vocals

This album is really good. Brian Fair stated that they wanted to make a "solid metal album", and they achieved that here. It's not as good as The Art Of Balance (I can't see them topping that anytime soon), but it's still good.
