Biography
Satellite Sky is the musical vision of Melbourne siblings Pete Kicks (vocals/guitar) & Kim Kicks (drums). It sees an exploration of their rock n roll influences with a grandiose flavor akin to artists such as The Verve and Bowie, while drawing on raw elements of The Who, Supergrass and The Hives.
Working with producer Paul Lani (U2, Bowie, Prince, Rod Stewart), Satellite Sky has created an emotive soundscape that is both dynamic and ambient. The recording process was a cathartic experience, with Pete reveling in the task of playing every instrument bar the drums. Recorded in an old 1920’s Hollywood house, they managed to capture the true essence of their musical vision.
Based in Los Angeles, 2011 has already seen the Band touring throughout the U.S including several standout showcases at SxSW in Austin, Texas. They have significantly increased their reputation as a formidable songwriting force and find their debut EP highly anticipated by both industry and fans alike. Two of the tracks, ‘With You’ and ‘I Like It’ can be heard in L.A Film Festival winner ‘Almost Kings’ (2011). The Band will also feature in the forthcoming music documentary 'Rockin The Wall'.
Anchored by what many industry insiders regard as “one of the best female drummers on the planet” and recently endorsed by Gretsch Drums, Satellite Sky has a stage show that leaves audiences with the knowledge they were witness to an extraordinary rock n roll experience!
