Biography

SIGHTBACKS is a Japanese band formed in November 2021, with members including vocalist Sota, bassist B.P, and drummer Shuya. Known for their intricate sound, described by the band as having a “24-color palette” of musical elements, SIGHTBACKS integrates intense guitar riffs, powerful shouts, and dynamic melodies, creating a distinctive approach that blends the energy of metalcore with elements of unpredictability and color. Their musical style features rapid transitions, resulting in complex arrangements that have gained attention in the Japanese music scene.

The band officially began its performances in February 2022, initially focusing on Tokyo's live music venues. Through frequent performances and a unique sound, they quickly built a reputation, eventually expanding their tours beyond Tokyo. In 2023, SIGHTBACKS was featured as an opening act at “Fest of Extreme 2023,” a prominent festival for heavy and experimental music organized by the band Broken By The Scream. That year, they also performed at “Nihon Otoko VOL.59,” an event co-hosted by SOULJAPAN and ANTIKNOCK, further solidifying their place within Japan’s loud music scene.

As of 2024, SIGHTBACKS has released four singles and two EPs. Their debut EP, Raptors, was released in August 2022, and their follow-up EP, MISSINGLINK, came out in February 2024. Both EPs gained notable streaming traction, with their music featuring in domestic and international playlists, marking a significant step in the band's reach. While still a relatively young band, SIGHTBACKS is recognized as part of Japan’s post-pandemic wave of emerging artists, with growing expectations from fans and critics for their potential impact on the Japanese rock and metalcore scenes.
