Biography
Rupert Glawitsch (born December 2, 1907 in Ljubljana, † April 16, 1981 in Hamburg) was a tenor who lived in Germany.
Rupert Glawitsch (who had originally graduated as an electrical engineer) began his singing career in Gablonz an der Neiße (today Jablonec nad Nisou, Czechia), Hamburg and Bremerhaven.
Since 1939 he sang tenor roles from operas and operettas, classical songs and pop music hits at the Reichssender Hamburg radio station and, after the Second World War, at the NWDR and NDR radio stations .
His most acclaimed roles were in the operettas "Der Zigeunerbaron" (The Gypsy Baron) by Johann Strauss, "Ein Walzertraum" (A Waltz Dream) by Oscar Strauss and "Der Vogelhändler" (The Bird Seller) by Carl Zeller.
He was buried in the Ohlsdorf main cemetery in Hamburg.
