Biography

Formed in Perth college Scotland, this Edinburgh based band fuse mixture of genres to bring you a funky soul drenched sound designed to make you move. Drawing heavy influence from Parliament, Frank Zappa, and many other soul artists from the 20th century Ruby and The Emeralds continue to explore their musical upbringing bringing grooves to the 21st century. They recorded an EP in november 2007 entitled The Legendary Tale of Captain Baz containing a mixture of their favourite tracks including: the jewish/kletzer influence The AtchaAtcha Pixie Doodle, the psychadelic groove Cosmic Jelly, the fonkey Fulfillingly Unsatisfied, and the rocking funkfest of Captain Baz. Other tracks recorded during the session included the transexual reggae singalong Indian Princess, the latin cycling experimentation The Rider, and the spaced out adventures of Magnet Boy.

Currently the band's key members are focussing on the running of an event in their home town of Edinburgh called The Big Freak, an event designed to bring together the creative mad hatters of edinburgh to encourage creative cross over and to have a damn good time!
