Biography
Roger Gunnarsson is a Swedish songwriter and musician, known for his work with the bands Nixon, Cloetta Paris, Sally Shapiro, Leaderboard, Pushy Parents, Free Loan Investments, Dune, Happy Birthdays, The Garlands, Intellivision, Roders, Chart Music, and more.
Gunnarsson was first active in the 90s Swedish indie pop scene in the bands Dune, Novelle, and Wilson. In the mid-90s, he started the home studio band Nixon in Halmstad. After a number of member changes, the band became a one-man project and in 1999 the first song "Dance To A Different Tune" was released on a vinyl single by the Swedish record company and music magazine Benno .
In 2000, he started the duo Free Loan Investments with Amanda Aldervall. The band released records in Sweden, England and the USA. Free Loan Investments also became a popular live band with two additional members. The band's musical hallmarks were happy pop with harsh, and often political, lyrics. The band made their last gig in the summer of 2004.
In 2005, he released an album with the anonymous duo Intellivision , which was a tribute project to italodisco and europop .
In 2007, artist Sally Shapiro made covers of Nixon's "Anorak Christmas" and "She Keeps Me Alive" (renamed "He Keeps Me Alive"), and the same year he started the band The Garlands with Christin Wolderth on vocals.
In 2008, he produced and wrote all the songs on Cloetta Paris' debut album Secret Eyes under the pseudonym Clive Reynolds. Cloetta Paris gained fans both through indie pop and in the music media. Later that year, the single "You And Me By The Stereo" was also released, written together with Giordano Trivellato and Giuliano Sacchetto from the band Milky.
In recent years he has only been active as a songwriter and producer. In 2012, for example, he wrote and produced the song "Die From A Broken Heart" for the Swedish disco artist Bimbo Boy together with his colleague in the new production team Chart Music .
Throughout his active career, he has had a side project in the pop duo Roders. From the beginning, the group only wrote songs in Swedish, but in recent years has written music in both Swedish and English.
During the 90s, he produced and participated in a number of film projects in smaller contexts.
