"Nowhere" by Ride is one of the seminal albums of the Shoegazing genre, even if the sound of the album is not necessarily indebted to Shoegaze. Rather, Ride's album seems to predict many genres of rock that were to be heard down the road, from Britpop to Indie. Their heavy use of distortion and hypnotic guitar figures certainly got them lumped into the Shoegaze scene, but really what we have here is a unique slice of guitar pop made by a group of immensely talented and inspired young men. The influence of this album is still being felt today through bands like DIIV and Real Estate.
