I think the audience specifically comes to the lecture for 'harder theory' than the things blastfmy is (rightly, in my opinion) picking on. "A pathetic ruin," he calls Nietzsche's life. Badly overstated. Why do people have to say that? He liked to keep to himself? He didn't have a lot of sex? He fell to a serious mental and physical illness? It's just silly for a lecturer to play into the "god, what a loser the guy was" trope.

@blastfmy, he was untangling and basically critiquing the need for autobiographical remarks in that rather contentious statement about how his life was boring. I feel like he is just trying to lighten the mood and is aware that his audience may not fully appreciate hard theory for forty minutes long, so he presents it in an accessible way with references to film, jokes, politics and so on.

thinks Nietzsche's life was very boring, has to prove to texan's that Nietzsche isn't gay, and thinks young men read Nietzsche who want to date girls that wear black although he also finds him the most important thinker of current thought. he's rather annoying but at the same time knows his Nietzsche.
