Biography
Born Micah Benjamin Smith, September, 29 1986, he began at an early age to experiment with beats and rhythms. What started as a childish fancy evolved into a constantly changing sound accompanied by a thirst for more and different types of music. The first album marks a primary foray into the musical scene, R44's latest, Heart Crushes World, sounds a shift to a much more mature and palatable sound uncommon among produces of his same age. With many local fans in his native Boise, Idaho calling him easily comparable to the likes of young musical sensation Beirut in terms of eclectic styling, but an edgy electronic/vocal sound along the lines of Dntel, Beck, and Moby. R44 continues to be a basement made, independently produced mixture of beats, soul, and dedication that has shown the rise of the young Micah Smith.
